National Account Manager

Location: Houston, TX

Job Functions

The National Account Manager will drive new business enrollment and adoption for clients, including individuals, employer groups, or a combination of both. The purpose of the position is to work with dedicated associations and applicable brokers to promote and sell the insured products and services of the company utilizing face-to-face contact as well as outbound telemarketing skills. As part of the sales process, the National Account Manager will be solely responsible for building an assigned block of business as well as completed his/her own paperwork.

The National Account Manager must possess the ability to understand and explain health insurance to consumers and employers to increase membership and meet sales goals. Throughout the sales process, the National Account Manager must meet Empyrean Insurance Services standards for integrity, compliance, and ensure that prospects understand the product they are purchasing.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed the new enrollment projects set forth by the Company’s Sales Department by selling the product in person and over the telephone.
  • Work with dedicated associations and brokers on implementing and closing new blocks of business.
  • Travel 30%-50% (or more) of the time to client and broker sites to solicit and close group and individual health policies as well as all applicable ancillary products including dental, vision, life, and disability.
  • Develop strong relationships with various brokerage houses in order to solidify an additional stream of sales support.
  • Will complete and submit all applications to the proper carrier for processing; therefore, all relevant supporting data will be entered into internal system (Sales Force) for tracking purposes.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly activity reports.
  • Responsible for working on special projects that support the department’s business objectives.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and goals.

Qualifications

  • Having current Life, Health & Accident Agent or Broker License preferred.
  • Have the ability to travel up to 60% (or more) of the time to meet with potential clients and brokers.
  • Have an affinity and high-level understanding in explaining detailed health insurance concepts and financial implications of different insurance options.
  • Ability to close sales in person and over the telephone.
  • Outbound telephone sales and/or telemarketing experience in the managed care or insurance industry, management experience highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of lead tracking software preferred.
  • Should be able to exercise independent judgment within policy and procedure guidelines established by the company and the insurance industry.
  • Satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Advanced PC and typing skills necessary.
  • College Degree or equivalent experience.
